Three Reasons To Go To Church Every Weekend

Christian family at church1.    Sense of Community – McMillan & Chavis (1986) define sense of community as “a feeling that members have of belonging, a feeling that members matter to one another and to the group, and a shared faith that members’ needs will be met through their commitment to be together.” Going to church provides families with a sense of community.

2.    Structure Within A Family – Children thrive in structure. We have established many routines with our children. These routines build structure. All of my children know that on Sunday morning they wake up and get ready to go to church. They have come so accustomed to this routine that when there is a break in it (such as illness) it does impact their attitudes and behavior that day.

3.    Faith – Faith is the most important thing that you can give your kids. You need to get faith to get through life.  With faith you are able to hope. At times when you feel lost, if you have faith you will persevere. I had no faith as a child. When I reflect back on my most challenging moments in my life, I remember feeling lost and alone and had nothing to hope for (or the things that I hoped for were not of importance). If I had faith it would have kept me focused and assisted me in getting through the most trying times.

For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them (Matthew 18:20).
